air plant terrarium

Norfolk Pine
A great
medium-sized tree having somewhat of a Northwest look together with a
tropical feel. The branches have a very "soft" look to them. Check out
this nice sized specimen ready to make a statement in your home.

Kentia
Palms
Nice specimen house plants:
These are 4 to 6 stems per 14"
pot with fronds reaching 7 to 8 feet in height. Kentia Palms are probably
the best suited palm for the Pacific Northwest due to its ability to handle
the lower light levels many of us have in the winter time as well as our
lack of humidity indoors in the winter. Their easy care
and watering requirements make them a good plant for those wanting a larger
specimen plant for their living or working environment.

Succulents: Cactus and Eschevaria
Cactus, eschevaria
and many other succulents make great plants for a sunny window, a terrarium
or even for your garden as the weather warms up. These are too cool
and many are in bloom right now. All are priced less than $10.

Ficus Tineke
(Variegated Rubber Tree) shown with other tropical house plants at Magnolia
Garden Center. Rubber trees are among the easiest of house plants to
grow. They can go for many days between waterings with no ill effects.
They benefit from bright light but do not usually like to be grown in the
direct sunlight.

Split-leaf Philodendron (Monstera deliciousa)
Also called Mexican Breadfruit, these
houseplants thrive in higher humidity and lower light levels than most.
The younger leaves are solid without the splits or holes. The older
leaves can grow to almost a yard in length. As the plants get bigger
they also grow aerial roots which can be an attractive addition. We
usually carry both young plants in 6" or 8" pots as well as older, more
mature plants with much larger leaves.
Alocasia
nigra (Black Elephant Ears)
(shown here with a banana on the left and a rubber tree on the right) are
grown from large potato shaped tubers. These plants and similar to the Alocasia grown in Hawaii from which the taro root is cultivated to make poi.
As a houseplant, these can be spectacular and easily grow to over 5' tall.
The black stems are smooth and shiny complementing the oversized leaves.
They like water and can be grown in a small water feature. They can
also be grown outside in the summer but must be brought inside for the
winter in our climate.

cylindrica An unusual version of the common
snake plant. These are great plants for low light locations and they
need little water. Very easy to grow! A modern looking plant for a
contemporary home.
