About Our Garden Center and Gift Shop

A delightful place to relax and shop, staffed with knowledgeable and helpful people (and sometimes Halloween Ghouls, Goblins and ????!).

The full-service Magnolia Garden Center is conveniently located in Magnolia Village just ten minutes from downtown and surrounded by Queen Anne and Ballard. We've been a trusted source for annuals, perennials, house plants, trees and shrubs, mulches and soil amendments, tools and supplies for over 40 years.

For container gardening on your balcony or deck, we have a great selection of containers, and plants to complete the look.

We regularly schedule classes and workshops on topics of seasonal interest such as container planting, rose pruning and flowering plant selection. Sign up for the email newsletter to make sure you don't miss anything.  See our Special Events page for what is coming up.

Custom Container Designs

We can create custom containers in the pot of your choice or into one of our many ceramic, terra cotta or synthetic containers. Bring in your favorite pot and have us pot it up for you. We can deliver it to your door within a couple of days. If you just want some advice on what to plant in a favorite pot just ask and we'll be glad to assist.

Landscape Design Services

If it's a complete landscape that you're interested in, you can consult with our nursery staff. We would be glad to do a full design for your entire property or just design a small planting bed. We also can design a walkway, a trellis or arbor, a patio pot planting scheme or even suggest the perfect houseplant for your living room.

Business Persons of the Year named

December 13th, 2009 by Gladys (From the Magnolia Voice blog site)

Congratulations to Chuck and Margaret Flaherty, Magnolia Garden Center, who have been named Magnolia Business Persons of the Year for 2009.  They are being honored for their long history of hard work and dedication in the neighborhood.

Chuck and Margaret have owned the Garden Center for almost 14 years and they have lived in Magnolia since 1985.  Both had long-time prior careers, Chuck in wine and Margaret in insurance and they started a small cut flower business in their backyard.   When the Magnolia Garden Center was for sale, they jumped at the chance to work together.

"It’s really fun owning a neighborhood business; we’ve gotten to know so many happy gardeners and fellow village business owners.  It’s a thrill and an honor to be part of the gardening lives of new gardeners, helping with their first organic vegetable gardens or designing of their first container gardens or first houseplants.  For the many experienced gardeners we see year in and out, it’s fun to hear how they and their gardens are developing as we grow older.  We are blessed to be part of many families’ holiday traditions, from the Village Tree Lighting at Open House to delivering their Christmas trees and presents to their homes.  Helping people, working with plants, greening Magnolia–that’s what we enjoy about being in business in our lovely neighborhood."
